How do I convert HEIC to JPG on iPhone?
To get JPG photos from an iPhone, open Settings, tap Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible so new photos are saved as JPG. For existing HEIC photos, convert them with an in-browser tool such as ARTH Convert, or share them through Files, which often converts them automatically.
The Camera setting only affects photos you take after changing it. Pictures already stored as HEIC stay that way, so they need converting.
Another built-in option is Settings, Photos, Transfer to Mac or PC, set to Automatic. iOS then converts photos to JPG when you copy them to a computer.
For batches, a browser based converter is quick: open ARTH Convert in Safari, choose your photos from the library, convert, and save the JPG files to Files or Photos.
Steps
- Open Settings, then Camera, then Formats.
- Select Most Compatible to shoot JPG from now on.
- For existing photos, open ARTH Convert in Safari and add them.
- Press Convert and save the JPG results.
More questions
Does Most Compatible reduce photo quality?
Photos are saved as JPG, which takes more storage than HEIC. Quality remains high.
Can I convert a Live Photo?
A Live Photo contains a still image and a short video. Converting the still gives you a JPG of the key frame.
